My Bio
Hello all, I am Raven Jones.

I attend Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Graphic design is my major however in the following months, I will be enrolled in an intensive-study animation course and earn a certification. I also work at the school's University Center as a student graphic designer.

I freelance and work on my own personal projects. I plan to volunteer at local art galleries, participate in local art shows, gain an internship at a local ad or marketing agency--anything that will add to network of people I need in order to gain inspiration, motivation, prospective clients and close contacts.

Eventually I would like to establish my own unique art salon/bar to promote the talented young artists. Or accomplish my girlhood dream of working as an artist for Lisa Frank, Inc.

Spring

0 min read
I had a wonderful time in New Orleans for my birthday and Mardi Gras (Mardi Gras fell on it for my 21st birthday this year). Anyway, coming back home snapped me back into my hum-drum reality: it's scholarship deadline and midterm season. Although I had a goal of submitting applications for 5 scholarships this year, it looks like I'm down to two right now. I feel like my art over the last year has regressed, so I'll try again next year. It's not a huge problem. Since I'll be in two major local art shows at the end of next month, I can just add the new pieces to my portfolio next year.

I'm not sure if this was on the national news, but Louisiana has not only cut the public art budget, but they have also approved a state-wide college budget cut (despite the many petitions and rallies comprised of students, teachers, and faculty against it). It's a real shame: the tuition has increased and to add insult to injury, most of the classes the collective student population need to take aren't even available because they either fired most of the instructors or canceled the classes (I can't even take printmaking until 2014!)     As you can imagine, some of the previous scholarships available at my school are either no longer avail

Thanks for watching!  You've got some really awesome stuff in your gallery!  So you go to LSU?  I'm an LSU alum, myself (although I went to the one in Baton Rouge, not Shreveport).
Thanks for the watch!

Dear brokenlizard:

In answer to your question about my picture:

Egg tempera is a medium most popular in the 14th century. It consists of pure powerdered pigments mixed with egg yolk and water and applied to absorbent surfaces: gesso, paper, etc..

Andrew Wyeth used egg tempera extensively in his paintings.

Thanks for asking.
